KIAHUNA GOLF CLUB - Poipu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii
Type of work: Renovation (2003)
Course Established: 1983 Original Architect: Robert Trent Jones II Director of Golf: Matt Torrey, PGA Superintendent: Robert Meiderois Construction Company: Specialized Earthworks Originally constructed in 1982 on the island of Kauai and designed by Robert Trent Jones II, Kiahuna had suffered through years of neglect. Colligan Golf Design introduced many relatively small concepts which when put together provide great gains. Tees, fairways and green surfaces were converted to Seashore Paspalum and the rough to 419 Bermudagrass. Existing bunkers got an up-to-date look with new edging, liners, drainage and new sand. New junior and senior tees were introduced to make playing the course more enjoyable for the new players and tourists on the island. Updating the practice facilities was another major change made at Kiahuna. |
