LUNA VISTA GOLF COURSE - Dallas, Texas
Type of work: Renovation (2012)
Course Established: 1969 Original Architect: Leon Howard & Dave Bennett Director of Golf: Mickey Piersall, PGA Superintendent: John Horton Construction Company: TDI Golf Construction While the 50 year old City of Dallas course was not broken it had been neglected. The original design was created more as a response to the flood plain that it was constructed within rather than the game of golf. Greens and tees were huge mounds of soil placed at an elevation which would get them out of the 100 year floods. CGD worked with the city to take what started as a greens resurfacing and irrigation project and expanded into a renovation of tees, fairways, irrigation, practice facilities, drainage, grasses, landscaping, bunkers and total greens complexes. The practice facility at Luna Vista was also redone and is now one of the best in the state with a 12,000 square foot putting green, short game area and a double ended practice range with target greens and a target fairway. |
