Shady Oaks was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1958 and is known as the home of Ben Hogan. Colligan Golf Design was contracted to provide a long range master plan in 2006. The plan considered options for new practice facilities and how technology has impacted the playability of the course. Various pieces of the master plan have been implemented including the addition of fairway bunkers on holes 3, 8, 10, 14, 15 & 17, new tees on holes 1, 5, 7, 10, 13 & 16, enlarging the practice tee and renovation of the short game area. The largest project to date was the enlargement of the irrigation pond and creek channel erosion control on holes 14 - 16.
